8 members of 1st grade, a research group of “History of exchange in Japan an South Asia” (teacher is Mr. Shinya Ishizaka) participated at the networking event for Ms. Smt. Deepa Gopalan Wadhwa, Ambassador of India in Ehime University, held in Oct. 29th. Ms. Wadhwa has worked in ILO (International Labor Organization) and also worked as Ambassador in Sweden and Latvia, appealed in Sally, a national costume of India.
In the event, Ms. Wadhwa explained slowly and earnestly in English about India, especially history, economic, religious belief, wars, and connection between Japan, which was asked from students. It was difficult for some of us to understand everything directly, (don’t worry, Mr. Tozawa, general manager of the Japan-India Friendship Association translated everything in Japanese, so students understand well) her story was very easy to understand, and very interesting. Students also enjoyed Indian tea, Spiced tea. In the end, we asked for some recommendable books about India and authors of India, than she replied that she will send us some books to our school! (Thank you very much to Ms. Wadhwa, we received box full of books! For students, please check them in SG corner of Library! There are poems of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, an introduction of Rabindranath Tagore, the first Nobel Prize winner in Asia, and others!)
For students, not only the story from Ms. Wadhwa but hearing university professors and students talking in English looked surprising for them. We would like to keep on learning.
